COIL

Your body is a number line, and merging is how you stay alive.

Everything you eat joins the back of the coil. Each segment keeps the number it arrived with, and the coil never reorders itself — the only thing you control is what you eat and in what order.
Two equal numbers side by side collapse into one. The pair becomes a single doubled segment, the coil gets shorter by one, and everything behind slides up — which can land another pair together and set the whole thing off in a cascade.
Eat the wrong number and it stays there forever. A small value between two big ones is a scar: the two either side can never meet again, and you carry that length for the rest of the run. The strip beside the board underlines them.
The board keeps filling. New numbers arrive whether you are hungry or not, and the only way one leaves is through you. Eat too little and there is nowhere left to steer that does not feed you something you did not want.
What spawns follows what you have built — small numbers stop appearing once you have outgrown them, so an early scar is a scar for good. A rare ◇ WILD is the way out: it dissolves your worst scar and lets the two sides meet.
Get a single segment to 2048. Hit a wall or your own body and the run is over.

MERGEValues collapse by position in the coil, not position on the board. Two equal segments that are neighbours in your body become one doubled segment, wherever on the grid they happen to be lying. The coil shortens by one, everything behind it slides a cell forward, and the merge is re-checked — so 8, 8 arriving behind a 16 gives you 32 in one go.
ORDERNew segments always join at the tail, so you are building a stack from the back. Eat 16 then 16 and they meet. Eat 16, 4, 16 and they never will — the 4 is between them for good.
SCARSAny segment smaller than both its neighbours is walled in. It is underlined in red on the strip. It costs you a cell of length permanently and it splits your coil into two halves that can no longer help each other.
FEEDWhat the board spawns is pinned to your peak — it tops out three doublings below it and drifts up as you climb, weighted heavily toward the smallest of the three on offer. That is what makes progress possible and what makes old scars permanent.
◇ WILDRare, and it never adds length. It dissolves your deepest scar — preferring one whose neighbours match, so it usually sets off a cascade — and if the coil is clean it doubles the tail instead.
ROOMNumbers arrive on a timer and stay until eaten. There is no dodging forever: the board tightens until every route runs through something, and a coil that is long from scars has nowhere to put itself. Walls kill. So do you.
PACEThe coil speeds up with every power of two you reach, so the board you can read at 32 is one you have to read faster at 512.
KEYSArrows or WASD steer — inputs are buffered, so a turn taken a fraction early still lands. Swipe on the board on a touchscreen. P pauses, M mutes, R restarts.
